Scarborough
Scarborough is a film adaptation of the award-winning novel by Canadian author Catherine Hernandez, a big-hearted portrait of three kids in a low-income neighbourhood who find community and friendship at a drop-in reading program. The debut feature from co-directors Shasha Nakai and Rich Williamson captures all the grit and beauty of its source material, offering fantastic performances from its young cast. Scarborough stands as a shining example of how, when everything lines up just so, our country’s film industry can produce truly powerful works of art that can transform the way that you see the world. Winner of Best Motion Picture, Canadian Screen Awards 2022.

And the Birds Rained Down
Three elderly hermits live deep in the woods in Quebec, cut off from the rest of the world. When wildfires threaten the region, their quiet life is shaken by the arrival of two women - a luminous octogenarian, unjustly institutionalized her whole life, and a young photographer charged with interviewing survivors of the region's deadliest forest fire. This eco-friendly, elegantly delivered tale about the sunset changes in the lives of a trio of graybeards living in the woods is engaging, thought-provoking and moving. Director Louise Archambault's beautifully intimate piece examines old age and social and environmental issues with a deft touch and much compassion.

To Kill a Tiger
In To Kill a Tiger, Ranjit, a farmer in Jharkhand, India, takes on the fight of his life when he demands justice for his 13-year-old daughter, the survivor of sexual assault. In India, where a rape is reported every 20 minutes and conviction rates are less than 30 percent, Ranjit’s decision to support his daughter is virtually unheard of, and his journey unprecedented. With tremendous access, we witness the emotional journey of an ordinary man facing extraordinary circumstances. A father whose love for his daughter forces a social reckoning that will reverberate for years to come. Nominated for the Best Documentary Film Oscar in 2024.
