Stanley Kubrick’s brilliant Cold War satire remains as funny and razor-sharp today as it was in 1964. It has the highest rating for any comedy on Rotten Tomatoes. Set at the height of Cold War tensions, the story features a demented U.S. general who, frustrated by his sexual impotence, plans to launch a nuclear strike against the Soviet Union. Meanwhile, an eclectic group of political officials desperately try to avoid Armageddon. Peter Sellers plays three roles in the film, including that of Dr. Strangelove, a weapons expert and barely reformed Nazi, and George C. Scott as a hawkish general. It’s one of the greatest – and undoubtedly the most hilarious – antiwar statements ever put to film. See it before the world ends.
