Event Details:
The CPKC Holiday Train will be rolling into Port Moody decked out in thousands of holiday lights at 5:20pm, with onboard live performances starting at 5:45pm from Magic! and Sofia Camara. The CPKC Holiday Train travels across Canada during the holiday season to raise food and cash donations for local food banks.
Join us for some extra festive family fun from 5:30-7:30pm in the Recreation Complex, Civic Centre, and outside of the Recreation Complex next to the tennis courts. Please consider supporting SHARE Family and Community Services by bringing a donation to help families this holiday season.
Event Schedule
| 5:20pm | Behind Trasolini Field (300 Ioco Road): CPKC Holiday Train arrives. |
| 5:45-6:15pm | Behind Trasolini Field: Speeches, performances by Magic! and Sofia Camara. |
| 5:30-7:30pm | Outside Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Road): Bonfire, hot chocolate, chili, hot dogs (all food by donation), and live music with Abegail Avram (5:30-5:45pm & 6:15-6:30pm), Ecole Moody Middle School of the Arts Choir (6:30-7pm) and Newport Brass (7-7:30pm). Drop food and cash donations at the Port Moody Police and SHARE tents. NEW! We are happy to share that we have just added the very popular Royal Express Mini Train kids ride to the CPKC Holiday Train event this year. It will be operating from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Recreation Complex - Wellness Room: Live music, spin art, festive tattoos, colouring, mascots and popcorn (by donation). Recreation Complex - Gym: Jungle Gym, button making, colouring, and mascots. | 6:30pm and 7:15pm | Civic Centre - Inlet Theatre: Screening of family-friendly holiday film Prep & Landing. Get tickets at the Inlet Theatre Bistro on a first come, first served basis starting at 5pm. |
Getting to the Event
- Parking at the Recreation Complex will be extremely limited, with portions of the parking lot fully closed to traffic starting at 1pm. Consider leaving your car at home and walking or taking public transit instead. Check TransLink’s Trip Planner for transit routes and schedules.
- Avoid Murray Street between Ioco Road and the Moody Street overpass between 5pm and 5:45pm, as the CPKC Holiday Train will temporarily block traffic upon arrival;
- Consider carpooling with friends or neighbours to reduce the number of cars on the road; and
- Consider parking at Moody Centre (Westcoast Express) Park and Ride (65 Williams Street) – from here, you can ride the SkyTrain from Moody Centre Station to Inlet Centre Station, then walk a few blocks north along Ioco Road and turn left onto Newport Drive.
Accessibility, washrooms and cold-weather preparedness
- Accessible public washrooms are available at the Civic Centre and the Port Moody Recreation Complex
- Find a sensory-friendly area in the Civic Centre Galleria (100 Newport Drive) with earplugs, colouring sheets, and fidget toys.
- This is a rain-or-shine event. Please dress for winter weather conditions, including rain, snow, and/or lower than normal temperatures, especially if you plan to participate in outdoor activities.
